[edit]DescriptionTreehorn Books - Flickr - brewbooks.jpg |
I visited Treehorn Books twice while I was in Santa Rosa, California. I really enjoyed it as I found a couple of very interesting science books: The Machinery of Life by Dean Wooldridge - I have several books by Dean Wooldridge, he was an engineer who retired to study science, especially as it relates to the brain - I hope to emulate him one day! Radio Astronomy by Joseph Lade Pawsey and Ronald N. Bracewell This is a great book written in the early days of radio astronomy , written by two Australian natives who did much pioneering work in this field. I knew of Bracewell from his excellent book The Fourier Transform and Its Applications. Ramanujan by G. H. Hardy Hardy was a great mathematician, his specialty was number theory. When Hardy was asked what his greatest contribution to mathematics was, Hardy unhesitatingly replied that it was the discovery of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan 043 |
