| Description |
English: Trebuchet in Detail A close-up of the base of the Trebuchet from which the sheer size of the machine is clear. The arm is wound down into its firing position by walkers in the two wheels either side of the central structure. From the information given during the demonstration, the effect of the flickering light through the slats of wood was very disorientating for the wheel walkers, so it was common for the job to be done by blind soldiers. If I recall correctly the counterweight contains 5 tonnes of rock. |
