Summary
[edit]DescriptionTravelling cluster.png |
English: Travelling cluster scheme. This is used to reduce computational cost in Monte Carlo simulation of lattice models where quantum fields, usually electronic fields are coupled to classical fields. Usually for one Metropolis update, one needs to diagonalize the entire lattice, which are expensive. But for disordered systems, the energy difference of the cluster constructed around a reference site is close approximation for the full lattice. This saves a lot of computational time, and potentially lets one simulate quite larger lattice systems.
