This coin was struck from engraved metal roller-dies onto flat silver sheet strips of pre-determined thickness.The final planchets were of near equal weight approx. 28-29 grams, perhaps 3 coins per strip. The coins were then punched out of these strips into circular planchets with sheared edges. This example shows that the image was struck too close to the margin of the flat silver strip, thus the flat edge at the top. This speciman is in an exceptional preservation with original patina or toning.
