English: Translink's Metro bus depot on the Falls Road in west Belfast, next to Falls Park. An unidentified Metro Scania L94UB / Wright Solar is seen just inside the shed. Apparently this depot was the base for the running repair team for the Metro fleet, providing quick turnarounds for out of service buses needing repairs. It was proposed for an upgrade by Translink in 2003, at which time it was the base for 80 engineering staff, as well as acting as an ordinary depot with 120 allocated drivers. This new looking shed is presumably the result of that work. In 2010 however it was proposed by Translink that such repair work be redistributed to local depots, leading to the loss of "up to 70 jobs" according to the Belfast Telegraph newspaper. |
