is slender, the first and thirdjoints of the peduncle similar and considerably longer thanthe second; the flagellum is about the same length as thepeduncle and contains about ten joints, which bear shortsimple setae and a few olfactory setae. The second antenna(fig. 6) is considerably longer and stouter than the first;the first two joints of the peduncle are short, the thirdabout twice as long as the second and subequal with thefourth, the fifth longer and more slender; the flagellum issubequal in length with the peduncle and contains aboutnineteen joints, the basal ones being somewhat stout and bear-ing tufts of numerous short simple setae. In the male the legs of the first pair (fig. 7) are stronglysubchelate, the propod being subtriangular and greatlybroadened at the base, the finger not reaching beyond thestraight palm. In general appearance this appendage issimilar to that of P. aiistralis. The second and third pairsof legs (fig. 8) are similar, longer, and more slender than the

Fourth peraeopod. 30 first; the propod is not broadened, but the finger is verylong, slightly curved, and when flexed reaches back as far asthe basal portion of the carpus, forming apparently an efiicientgrasping organ. The fourth leg (fig. 9) is slightly longerthan the third with the joints more slender, and it is not sub-chelate but simple, the finger not longer than the propod.This appendage is the same in both male and female, althoughin some other species of Pkreatoicus the legs of the fourthpair are modified in the male to form a special grasping organ.The fifth, sixth, and seventh pairs are quite similar, increasingprogressively in length posteriorly. The basal joint in eachis very greatly expanded behind into a rounded lobe pro-jecting backwards and downwards, reaching two-thirds ofthe way to the distal
