The coincidence of aortic insufficiency with increase oftension in the eye is probably enough to account for theobliteration of the retinal arteries, though we must assumethe existence of some other factor to account for thisoccurring in the right eye alone. Pupil very wide, scarcely any iris visible;edge of lens shows. Disc cupped, but filled by a newgrowth which spreads forwards into vitreous nearly asfar as ciliary processes, principally on the outer half ofglobe. Vessels are seen springing from the retinal vesselsand then coursing in the growth, which, is white in colourand of a fibrous appearance.* Left field much contracted, forming a narrow horizontalslit stretching outwards.
