THE CLADOCERA OF NEBRASKA^ By CHAKLES FORDYCE, Nebrasbca Wesleta:^ University WITH FOUR PLATES INTRODUCTION In the fall of 1895 the writer began a study of the Cladoceraof Nebraska; the work on this group has continued with in-creasing interest for a period of five years, with such resultsas may be found in this paper, which has been prepared inconnection with a course of graduate study in the Depart-ment of Zoology in the University of Nebraska and acceptedby the Faculty, June, 1900, as a thesis for the degree of Doctorof Philosophy. Gratitude is due Dr. R. H. Wolcott and Miss Caroline E.Stringer for several bottles of material received from them,and the writer would express his most grateful acknowledg-ments to his friend Dr. H. B. Ward, of the University ofNebraska; for it was through his influence and kind personalguidance that the task has been pursued and finally com-pleted.
