158 RECENT GEOLOGIC DEVELOPMENTS ON THE MESABI IRON RANGE have formed in places where gentle foldmg and warping of the iron-forma-tion had fractured it considerably, allowing easy access and circulationof ground-waters. Evidence along this line has been assembled sincethe publication of those articles and in every case where the explorationdata are complete enough it has been found that the orebodies occur wherethe whole formation has been warped. In the eastern part of the district(Virginia and eastward) the orebodies are on the crests of gentle anticlines.Fig. 9 shows a cross-section parallel to the strike of the formation inT. 58 N., R. 16 W., location of which is shown on the map in Fig. 11.This section is taken well to the south side of the formation and only oneorebody reaches it.
