Summary
[edit]DescriptionTramway Repair Vehicle, Heaton Park (geograph 3727294).jpg |
English: Tramway Repair Vehicle, Heaton Park. Railgrinder No 1 was built by Blackpool Corporation Transport at Rigby Road Works in 1928. It was used to grind out corrugations on the rails, and also as a stores car for track maintenance work. It first appeared in lined out red livery, but in July 1935 was repainted green, and in November of the same year was fitted with snowploughs. The Blackpool Rail Grinder was acquired by the Manchester Transport Museum Society in 2008 when Blackpool Transport began their fleet reduction in preparation for the 2012 upgrade. It has been given its original fleet number '1' and it is expected that it will ultimately be repainted back into its original red livery. It is currently used as a dedicated works car at Heaton Park. |
