| Description |
English: Tram near Central Pier, Blackpool This interesting car is No 706. It was built in 1934 as an open-topper, one of a batch of 13, and ran for some years in this state, but along with sister-cars was rebuilt as a fully-enclosed 'Balloon' in 1941. After collision damage it was again rebuilt and restored to open-top condition in the early 1980s, when it was given the rather silly name 'Princess Alice', (I do not suppose that esteemed individual ever boarded a tram in her life). It has not exactly returned to its 1934 appearance, for instance, the double-indicators have not been restored and I do not think it previously had upper-deck windscreens. |
