Faisceaux descendants. — Ils ont leur origine soit dans lescentres sus-jacents, soit dans la moelle elle-même : les premierssont des faisceaux exogènes, les autres des faisceaux endogènes:ceux-ci ont été étudiés plus haut avec le faisceau fondamental ducordon antéro-latéral. Le plus important des faisceaux exogènes estle faisceau pyramidal, qui prend ses origines dans la région motricede lécorce cérébrale (circonvolutions frontale et pariétale ascen-dantes, lobule paracentral). On sait quà la limite inférieure dubulbe les deux pyramides sentre-croisent, mais incomplètement; lesfibres entre-croisées forment le plus gros faisceau ou faisceau pyra-midal croisé, les fibres non entre-croisées forment un faisceau moinsimportant ou faisceau pyramidal direct. Le faisceau pyramidal croiséest situé à la partie postérieure du cordon latéral, il natteint la 2 18 J. DEJERINE ET A. THOMAS. - MALADIES DE LA MOELLE.
