CONCLUSION TO PART II The results derived in these three terts give resistancesfor loaded cars from 4.92 to 7.57 pounds per ton for speeds rangingbetween 20 and 25 miles per hour. It is to be noted that when thetrains were loaded the maximum speeds were between these limits. Theresistance 4.92 pounds is probably a minimum and 7.57 pounds is nearerthe average to be expected. For empty trains we find the speedsrunning up to 36 miles per hour,and whenever the trains consistedof empty cars the maximum speeds range between 30 and 35 miles perhour. The resistances found for these speeds were from 12 to 14pounds per ton. The train experimented with on the Illinois Central Rail-road was of about the same weight as the empty train experimentedwith on the Big Four Railroad,but the former consisted of empty coalc rs while the latter Was a mixed train. The resistances found forthe Big Four train are about five per cent higher than those foundfor the Illinois Central train. This difference is due,
