Summary
[edit]DescriptionTrain at Howth Junction - (4) (geograph 3252633).jpg |
English: Train at Howth Junction - (4) During a period of single line working, CIÉ 181 class No. 181 has just worked the 10.30 Sunday only Dublin – Belfast passenger service from the down to the up main line at Howth Junction. Unusually for the Great Northern Railway (Ireland), the signal cabin at the junction was built entirely of brick – a design repeated only at Knockmore (see: J2463 : Railway signal cabin Knockmore Junction) and East Wall Junction. Both East Wall and Howth Junction cabins were demolished in preparation for the DART electrification of 1984. |
