Description

Here, in the middle of the frame, just between two peaks lies Cho La Pass. Despite its height (5400 meters) it is a rather low and accessible point comparing to the other peaks and passes in that area, which allows trackers, Sherpas and porters travel between Gokyo lakes and Everest base camp regions.

Conditions on the pass depend on the current weather as well as snow/ice conditions during previous days. The climb starts early in the morning with most of the trackers crossing the pass in the direction from Thagnak village (4700m) (some start from Gokyo) to Dzongla (4830m), less trekkers cross it in the reverse direction.
