Français : A gauche : trachio-Andésite dite "pierre de Volvic". Des environs de Volvic (dans le Puy-de-Dôme, en France). Numéro d'inventaire : T-La 2214. Collection Lavoisier. La nature volcanique de cette roche a été reconnue par le naturaliste Guettard, qui la vit employée à la construction dans de nombreux bâtiments à Moulins et à Vichy (dans l'Allier). Il décida alors d'aller visiter les carrières de Volvic.
A droite, en haut : scorie basaltique de Gravenoire (Puy-de-Dôme, France). Collection Lavoisier. Numéro d'inventaire : T-La 2203. A droite, en bas: prismes basaltiques de Gergovie (Puy-de-Dôme). Collection Lavoisier. Numéros d'inventaire : T-La 2208, 2209 et 2210. Minéraux conservés au Muséum d'histoire naturelle Henri-Lecoq, dans la ville de Clermont-Ferrand, en France. Ils font partie de la collection Lavoisier, conservée au musée. Lavoisier n'a jamais visité l'Auvergne, mais il possédait des minéraux d'Auvergne, très probablement issus du legs que lui avait laissé Guettard. Ces roches ont donc été très probablement recueillies par Guettard lors du voyage en Auvergne qu'il fit en 1751. A sa mort, Guettard légua ses collections et ses manuscrits de géologie à Lavoisier. |
