Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Tower of St Luke's church, Charlton. St Luke's is a grade 2* listed Anglican parish church in the heart of Charlton, just across the road from Charlton House 913218. The tower and nave are mostly 17th century but incorporating parts of the walls of an earlier church. The church stands on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Thames valley, and the tower used to be used as a navigational aid by sailors on the Thames. The parish still has the rare right to fly the Royal Ensign.
