Summary
[edit]DescriptionTow Path Closed, Stourton, Staffordshire - geograph.org.uk - 974446.jpg |
English: Tow Path Closed, Stourton, Staffordshire Not that anyone was taking any notice whatsoever! Joggers, cyclists, dog-walkers, other walkers, me, old and young alike!
The canal is closed because of a breach (see images in SO8785) of the embankment on the night of September 7th means that passage from here to Stourbridge, or Birmingham via Netherton Tunnel will now be impossible (they say) for at least 4-6 months. Water is due to be pumped into the pound above Stourton top lock starting on 22nd September, but this will only be to allow a boatyard to resume some activity, and allow stranded boaters passage down to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Stourton Junction. |
