Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Tourmaline
Locality: Stak Nala, Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan (Locality at mindat.org)
From the new find in the late Fall of 2005 in Pakistan. This is a very impressive specimen from the most famous Tourmaline locality in Pakistan. I have seen many Tourmaline specimens from Stak Nala for many years and the one characteristic of that many of them lacked was decent color. This crystal features several colors ranging from a beautiful pale pink basal termination on one end ranging into a beautiful pale blue-green color, then into an olive-green color, then a very dark forest-green color. To top it off, there is a nice rosette of bladed ALBITE crystals aesthetically sitting on the side of the specimen. The prism of the Tourmaline is exceptionally lustrous for this material. This is a great display piece and a wonderful pegmatite specimen from a classic locality. These piece are becomingly increasingly difficult to find in todays market. 3.3 x 2.2 x 1.8cm
