English: Tourists reading labels on cages in zoo adjacent to Rocky Mountains Park Museum in Banff, Alberta, in Rocky Mountains Park. These labels were from the type from which the Handbook of Rocky Mountains Park Museum was printed and the frames are colored black to match the iron bars of the cages. Grey to match the wire would have been so good or better. The paper of these labels is protected from rain, etc., by three coats of spar varnish on the front. If applied also to the back of the paper it might have been better. Some other labels are covered with glass. In a year or so it will be known which stands best, weather the rain, etc., spoils those vanished or the stones thrown by children and umbrellas poked by tourists break the glass. Then future frames may be made accordingly. At any rate the labels may be replaced. If they last a season they will have repaid the trouble of framing and placing them. Sulphur Mountain shows beyond. |
