Description
Français : Tour des Archives (XVe s.) du château des ducs de Savoie, à Chambéry.

Bâti à l’extrémité orientale du plateau de Montjay l’ensemble, résidence principale de la maison de Savoie des XIIIe au XVIe s., fût rehaussé au cours du temps. Désireux de mettre ses états à l’abri des convoitises françaises, et menaces de plus en plus pressantes des troupes royales, le duc décida le transfert de sa capitale pour s’installer à Turin après 1560...

Le château héberge aujourd'hui préfecture et services du conseil départemental.
