Description
English: Totnes. The North Gate by William Spreat, a lithograph. Drawn from nature and on stone by W. Spreat. Printed and published at W. Spreat's Lithographic Establishment, 6 Park Place, Longbrook Street, Exeter. Note: Totnes became fully walled in 1215. There were four entrances: the East Gate, which still stands between High Street and Fore Street; the West Gate, which stood in the Narrows; the South Gate, behind the square on South Street; and the North Gate, in Castle Street. A Grade II Listed Building in Totnes, Devon.
