Description

A Torre do Relógio está contígua à residência, mas não há qualquer comunicação entre os dois edifícios que são completamente distintos e pertencentes a épocas diferentes. A habitação é de particulares enquanto que a Torre está sob a alçada do município. A habitação é de particulares enquanto que a Torre está sob a alçada do município que garante a sua conservação tal como a do relógio.

Origem da Torre A existência deste relógio é proveniente de uma antiga capela dedicada a São Pedro, um templo barroco que seria demolido para dar lugar à casa particular. A torre acabou por servir de base para a instalação do relógio no século XVIII, transformando-se numa verdadeira relíquia pública para a vila.

Funcionamento De fabrico francês, possui uma particularidade à semelhança de todos os relógios de torre do seu tempo, em que funciona com um só ponteiro, respeitante ao das horas.
