Description

L'any 1102 es documenta l'existència de la muralla que envolta la vila i que s'anirà reformant fins a la gran modificació del segle XIV, amb la incorporació de nous portals. L'estructura que actualment podem veure correspon a una de les torres de defensa d'un dels portals d'entrada al recinte emmurallat. En el segle XIX la torre s'habilità com a presó, fet que li ha donat nom fins a l'actualitat. En el portal de Vic cal destacar la localització d'altres restes de l'antiga muralla de Caldes de Montbui.

Es troba situada a la cantonada entre els carrers Major i Bigues i està declarada com a Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional.
