Description
English: Top End and the view over Westerdale The smoke is controlled heather burning.

This is done through Winter and Early Spring when the weather is dry enough. The aim being to maintain a patchwork of heather at different stages of maturity.

This benefits all wildlife and particularly moorland birds such as grouse.
