Tombola at Sohmer Park (1890), Montreal, QC, c. 1910, Cumming & Brewis - Ink on paper mounted on card - Halftone - 15 x 20 cm. On June 24, 1890, the day of the French-Canadian holiday of St. Jean-Baptiste, a tombola was organized at Sohmer Park. Proceeds went to the Monument National, a theatre which was built on St. Lawrence Boulevard in 1893. Festivities for Victoria Day were also held in the park.

Les profits sont destinés au Monument national, une salle de spectacles qui sera construite en 1893 sur la rue Saint-Laurent. Le parc accueille aussi les réjouissances de la fête de la Reine. |
