| Description |
English: Tolbooth, Pittenweem. The Tolbooth was as far as I can tell built in 1588. The upper extension, the part with the clock on it, was added in the following 100 years. Thought to be built on the site of the old Abbey which moved here from May Island when the Abbey on May became untenable due raids from the Scandinavians. As a final note it is a Tolbooth and not a Tollbooth. |
