Description
English: Two Yağıbasan Madrasas exit, both built by Nizamettin Yağıbasan from the Danişment Principality, in Tokat and Niksar. The Yağıbasan Madrasa located in Tokat is also known as Çukur Madrasa. The latter was built in 1151 - 1152, is important in that it is one of the first examples of Anatolian madrasahs with closed courtyards. The middle of the 14-meter diameter dome covering the courtyard is open. There are small and large vaulted rooms on the sides, and the main iwan, which functions as a masjid and classroom, opposite the entrance iwan.
