Summary
[edit]DescriptionTo eat where Caesar died - Da Pancrazio near the Campo de Fiori (43507267111).jpg |
Piazza del Biscione, 92, 00186 Roma RM, Italy. Built into the remains of the theater of Pompey on the Campus Martius. The theater of Pompey was Rome's first permanent theater, a grandiose building complex outside the ancient pomerium. It was at the theater of Pompey that Caesar attended a meeting of the Senate on the Ides of March, 44 BC, where he was assassinated by members of the senate, who resented his affectations of kingship and feared his power. Remnants and footprints of the theater are visible today in the area between the Largo Argentina and the Campo de Fiori, including in Da Pacrazio's, which is built into the foundation of the theater. The ancient construction is visible in the lower dining area. Good eating too.
