Description
English: Painting by John Lavery, oil on panel entitled "Study for a Moorish dance", dated 1892. This painting was painted during the painter's Tangier period. Indeed, from 1891, the painter left for Tangier (Morocco), the opportunity for him to captivate the Moorish essence of Morocco through several paintings of anthropological value, as in this painting where the Mansouria, traditional feminine clothing of Moroccan women is painted, it consists of a Caftan worn under a transparent Dafina. At the waist, a Fez brocade or silk belt is worn.
