Summary
[edit]DescriptionTinantia pringlei ^ Crusea coccinea - Flickr - peganum.jpg | Two relatively new Central Americans for the garden. Neither looks very promising as hardy garden plants but I can certainly vouch for Tinantia - a close relative of the common houseplant Tradescantias with black spotted foliage, This has come through the last two winters outside (in a sunny sheltered spot) without difficulty. Although it dies back in winter new shoots appear as soon as possible in spring, and a crop of tiny babies may appear further away too, from small bulbils I think (gemmae?) There may even be some potential for it becoming a bit of a weed. |
