Summary
[edit]DescriptionTimișoara - Piaţa Victoriei (44824666521).jpg |
Cetate - Piaţa Victoriei Originally, at the height of today's state theater, the fortress walls ran around the old core of the Inner City. In the place of today's Piaţa Victoriei formerly ran an avenue and the area was still part of the fortress in the 19th century, this so-called esplanade could not be built for strategic reasons. At the beginning of the 20th century, the bastion was finally torn down, the avenue was straightened and widened, from 1910 was a modern boulevard, flanked by upper middle-class residential palaces. The square was extensively rebuilt in 1923. |
