Summary

[edit]
Description

A medieval floor in the Vleeshal in Middelburg. This dates from the 1500's but it was heavily restored after WW-II.

I have not found a good introduction to the physics of the crack formation. Can anyone help me?

I suspect it is some kind of equilibrium or optimization, the patterns remind me of soap bubble structures.
