Photographer
Title
Tiger Fly Hunts On Alyssum
Description

500px provided description: Tiger fly (Coenosia humilis) waiting for prey on an alyssum bloom. They like to eat ash whiteflies.

Also called hunter or "killer" flies, this fly sits on surfaces such as leaves until something flies by. Then it flies out to catch the prey and return to the original spot. They hold the prey underneath them and suck out the fluids for about 10-20 minutes depending on size of prey.

Alyssum apparently attracts quite a few beneficials like this predator!
