| Description |
Trekking 4 days from Ganden Monastery to Samye Monastery. Erica carefully picking her way through the tundra hummocks as we climbed slowly but surely to the second pass, 5100m Chitu-la. No trail to follow, but our track followed the base of the valley. No guide or horse anymore, we're carrying our own gear over and doing fine with the altitude. Sometimes there is a trail, sometimes there isn't. We basically just followed the valley floor up, mostly staying on the left side for the most part. In places it got very marshy with mud flats that could be challenging in wet conditions. Routefinding was easy though as there are not any major side valleys to get lost into. |
