Result, Destruction of all tissue, including bone which drops off in dry scales. (No. 2): More acute or rapid. Great swelling of lower extremities, and separating of toes as indicated in left foot. (No. 3): Ulcerous, Round, from Rose like ulcers exude a serum which is very active." Taken in Cebu, Philippines. Leprosy, also known as Hansen's Disease, is a chronic infection caused by two types of bacteria. The prevailing method of eradication of the disease from the island was by isolating diseased individuals.
