Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Three Points Lane near Middle Claydon. This section of Three Points Lane looking north from Knowlhill Farm towards Middle Claydon is dead straight, is lined with poplar trees and has no obvious power or telephone lines, which explains why it has been used as a location for films portraying Napoleonic France. The lane, which here is an unclassified road, is a curiously roundabout thoroughfare changing direction several times so as to resemble the three sides of a square, hence no doubt its name. It appears on Jefferys County Map of 1770. Starting at Catherine Farm on the C road that runs between Botolph Claydon and Calvert, it forms this farm road for 1.5km south-west to Knowlhill Farm, just behind the camera. It continues south-west as a bridleway alongside Sheephouse Wood, then meanders south-east towards Finemerehill House, east for a short distance, then north-east alongside Runt's Wood, see 440668, and finally north to the same C road west of Botolph Claydon.
