Description

Three Grey cousins present at three historic heraldic events. All descended from w:Henry de Grey (1155-1219) of Grays Thurrock, Essex, who bore arms: Barry of six argent and azure, of which various cadet branches bore differences (excluding Grey of Codnor, which was the senior line descended from him, which bore the arms undifferenced):

  • Henry Grey, 1st Baron Grey of Codnor (died 1308). Present at the Siege of w:Caerlaverock Castle in 1300 and sealed the Barons' Letter to the Pope, 1301 (Source: Cokayne, G. E.; H. A. Doubleday; Duncan Warrand & Lord Howard de Walden, eds. (1926).
