Deutsch: Der AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7970X in seiner Produktverpackung. Der Prozessor ist Teil der AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000-Serie und mit 32 Kernen und 64 Threads etwa im mittleren Segment. Daneben gibt es den 7960X (24 Kerne/48 Threads, 152 MiB Total Cache, 5,3 GHz Boot-Takt, 350 W TDP) und den 7980X (64 Kerne/128 Threads, 320 MiB Total Cache, 5,1 GHz Boot-Takt, 350 W TDP). Dazu erschien die AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Pro-Serie mit dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX (96 Kerne/192 Threads, max. 5,1 GHz Boost; 2,5 GHz Basistakt), dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX (64 Kerne/128 Threads, max. 5,1 GHz Boost; 3,2 GHz Basistakt), dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX (32 Kerne/64 Threads, max. 5,3 GHz Boost; 4,0 GHz Basistakt), dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7965WX (24 Kerne/48 Threads, max. 5,3 GHz Boost; 4,2 GHz Basistakt), dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7955WX (16 Kerne/32 Threads, max. 5,3 GHz Boost; 4,5 GHz Basistakt), dem AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7955WX (12 Kerne/24 Threads, max. 5,3 GHz Boost; 4,7 GHz Basistakt).
The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7970X in its product packaging. The processor is part of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series and, with 32 cores and 64 threads, is roughly in the mid-range segment. There is also the 7960X (24 cores/48 threads, 152 MiB total cache, 5.3 GHz boot clock, 350 W TDP) and the 7980X (64 cores/128 threads, 320 MiB total cache, 5.1 GHz boot clock, 350 W TDP). The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Pro series also appeared with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX (96 cores/192 threads, max. 5.1 GHz boost; 2.5 GHz base clock), the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX (64 cores/128 threads, max. 5.1 GHz boost; 3.2 GHz base clock), the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX (32 cores/64 threads, max. 5.3 GHz boost; 4.0 GHz base clock), the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7965WX (24 cores/48 threads, max. 5.3 GHz boost; 4.2 GHz base clock), the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7955WX (16 cores/32 threads, max. 5.3 GHz boost; 4.5 GHz base clock), the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7955WX (12 cores/24 threads, max. 5.3 GHz boost; 4.7 GHz base clock). The 7000 series is categorized in the HEDT segment, the PRO series in the workstation segment. Whether this is comprehensible is debatable, as a 7990X is probably better than a 7945WX and enormously high performance rates can also be achieved with a 7990X.
The 7000 series supports up to 1 TiB RAM as quad-channel and the 7000 Pro series supports 2 TiB RAM as octa-channel. Care should be taken when purchasing a compatible motherboard; 7000 Pro CPUs may not fit into the 7000 series socket and vice versa. The 7970X uses the sTR5 socket. There are just 4 motherboards for it at Caseking, for example: the "Asus Pro WS WRX90E-Sage SE, AMD WRX90 motherboard, socket sTR5, DDR5" (€1299.90), the "ASUS Pro WS TRX50-Sage WiFi, AMD TRX50 motherboard, socket sTR5, DDR5" (897,90 €), the "Gigabyte TRX50 Aero D, AMD TRX50 motherboard, socket sTR5, DDR5" (781,90 €) and the "ASRock TRX50 WS, AMD TRX50 motherboard - socket sTR5, DDR5" (€813.90). The CPU generation is based on the Zen 4 architecture and works exclusively with DDR5 SDRAM with ECC function as RDIMM. The CPUs are intended for complex renderings in 3D design, among other things, and less for gaming, even if the CPUs achieve fast clock rates with fewer cores. The purchase should be based on the budget, the required performance and efficiency. For example, the 7995WX usually achieves twice the performance of the 7970X, with 3x more cores and a 4x higher price (approx. €2550 vs. €10,500). |
