Français : Le funiculaire Rives-Thonon.
C'est le deuxième funiculaire construit en France après celui de Saint- Just à Lyon. Conçu par l’ingénieur Auguste Alesmonières, le funiculaire a la particularité d’avoir le croisement des voitures dans une courbe. La longueur totale de la ligne est de 230 m, la dénivellation est de 40 m. Inauguré le Lundi de Pâques 2 Avril 1888, en présence d'invités des cantons de Vaud et de Genève, le funiculaire de Thonon servait à palier les difficultés de communication entre la ville haute et le port de Rives. Le dimanche 1er avril 1888 le funiculaire aura transporté 2433 voyageurs payants et le 2 avril plus de 3500. Il fut rénové à trois reprises : en 1951 puis en 1989 (afin de moderniser son mécanisme) et dernièrement en 2010. La nouvelle installation inaugurée en 1989 est totalement automatisée ce qui provoqua la disparition des chauffeurs en blouse blanche à col bleu. This is the second funicular built in France after that of Saint-Just in Lyon. Designed by engineer Auguste Alesmonières, the funicular has the distinction of having the crossing of cars in a curve. The total line length is 230 m, there is a drop of 40 m. Opened on Easter Monday April 2, 1888, in the presence of guests cantons of Vaud and Geneva, the funicular Thonon used to overcome the difficulties of communication between the upper town and the port of Rives. Sunday 1st April 1888 the funicular will paying passengers transported in 2433 and 2 April 3500 more. It was renovated three times: in 1951 and in 1989 (to modernize its mechanism) and most recently in 2010. The new facility opened in 1989, is fully automated which caused the disappearance of the drivers in white blouse with blue collar. The cars now have a capacity of 53 seats. |
