தமிழ்: Photograph of the H.E. Tondaiman Rajah and his ministers, part of the 'Photographic Views of Poodoocottah' (Madras, 1858) collection, taken by Linnaeus Tripe in 1858. In 1855, Tripe was commissioned to take photographs for the British East India Company and the Madras Presidency which resulted in six albums, one of which concentrated on Pudukottai and is seen here. Now in the modern state of Tamil Nadu, Pudukottai was once a princely state under the Tondaiman Rajas. This view shows a portrait group in the durbar hall of the palace, with Ramchandra Tondiman-the Raja of Pudukkottai-seated in the middle, flanked by two rows of seated ministers. |
