Notes O Aljube (cadeia ou cárcere para eclesiásticos sujeitos à jurisdição episcopal) ficava na esquina da Rua do Acre com a Rua Major Daemon (Ladeira da Conceição). A Rua do Acre já se chamou: Rua da Valinha, da Prainha e do Aljube. Se chamava Rua da Valinha devido à existência de pequena vala, que servia de escoamento às águas das chácaras circunvizinhas e de esgoto do antigo Seminário de São Joaquim, e ia desembocar na grande vala da cidade em direção à prainha de André Pinto Guimarães.
