English: Thomas Hardy Locations, First School, Lower Bockhampton The school was built with the help of Mrs Martin, wife of the local landowner of Kingston Maurward House and Hardy started here in 1848 at the age of eight and attended for five years. He used to walk here from his home in Upper Bockhampton just to the north. It is now a private house. |
