• Mr. J. J. Leonard, collector of motor taxes in Co. Galway, has joined-the Black Watch Regiment. He was given a hearty send-off on leaving Galway for Perth.
• It has been, reported to the Roscommon police that Thomas Conboy, farmer, of Beechlawn, Athleague, committed suicide by shooting himself. A doctor was quickly summoned, but before he arrived the man died.
• Judge Doyle, at Ballina Quarter Sessions, gave a decree, at the instance of Very Rev. Chancellor MacHale, P.P. V.F., Crossmolina, against Miss M. Quinn, N.T., and her assistant, Miss M. Gilbert, for possession of Crossmolina National School. It was stated that a position of affairs had arisen that resulted in the children of the district refusing to go to the school, or not being allowed to go. The plaintiff had tried to settle matters, but without avail, and it was now contended that the contract ended with the death of the late parish priest.
