Text Appearing Before Image:
ot know that he has ever revisited his native country, but if he have, ithas not been for any long time, nor has he exerted any personal influence on our home-art byhis presence. We have heard often of late of his expressed intention to come to America toread his much-talked-of lecture on art, called Ten Oclock, from the eccentric hour of theday on which it was delivered; for as it was said of a manoeuvring lady that she could nottake a cup of tea without stratagem, so Mr. Whistler cannot do anything without a strongdash of eccentricity.
