29. Friday. Washed on No 13 and combed my hair in front of 14. The day of sale. Round to Houston St, with drawing materials, having to do a big cut for the Pic, Rawson [Gill] with me, taking temporary possession of Bob Gun’s room. Anon to Mrs [Celina] Jewells, saw her, Selena [Jewell] and Mrs [Cornelia] Sexton, also the latter’s baby — an exceedingly ugly and diminutive one. Out again — a lovely sunny day. Red flag flying at our door. Turned out by 1 1/2 round to 132 Bleecker. The auctioneer presiding in our dining parlor, selling up all the familiar things.
