Description
English: Title: This is destroyer 221 of the American fleet in Constantinople. These speedy boats are always ready for emergencies and in many cases have carried thousands of refugees from war stricken areas

Abstract: Photographs show the USS Simpson (DD-221) which was part of the United States Naval Detachment in the eastern Mediterranean under the command of Rear Admiral Mark L. Bristol; and Frank Carpenter outside the door of the American Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Physical description: 2 photographic prints (1 page) : gelatin silver.
