| Description |
English: Thickthorn Down towards Gussage Down. Looking northeast from the edge of the grid square. All the fields in the foreground up to the white farm building are within this grid square, ploughing has destroyed all visible traces of the neolithic Dorset Cursus. The course of the cursus took it over Gussage Hill (in the middle distance) - the long barrow that is just visible on the ridge of the hill was between the cursus's parallel banks. In the far distance is the tree-covered high point of Penbury Knoll. |
