English: The temperature scale is in degrees Fahrenheit.
Surging Spring is a rare geyser in the Lower Group of Yellowstone's West Thumb Geyser Basin. It has a moderately deep, irregularly-shaped basin. When inactive, water levels are low. When active, the basin is water-filled and has eruptions involving heavy overflow and low to moderately low doming water, with some splashing. Eruption runoff drains eastward toward Yellowstone Lake. Surging Spring receives runoff from nearby Collapsing Spring when it overflows. In 2000, researchers measured the temperature of Surging Spring's water at 62 degrees Celsius, with a pH of about 4.4 (= acidic). |
