| Description | A final look at the destroyed US tank in the Cu Chi tunnels site. There is much anti-US propaganda here, and reading about the bullying tactics and acts of desperation by the US, largely because they got a sound thrashing from the Viet Cong, you do tend to agree with it. However both sides have moved on now, and although you do have a constant stream of Vietnam veterans back for a visit, some of them with their Vietnamese wives (I spotted three such couples on this trip), for the most past both countries have moved on. In fact I was surprised to learn that not all Vietnamese were happy with the Communist victory in the war, and as many as two million of them fled the country, fearing persecution! Most Vietnamese, especially the young ones, like the American way of life. (Cu Chi Tunnels, Saigon/ HCM, Vietnam, Nov. 2016) |
